Formed in 2017, Jeff Berlin Music Group (JBMG) is dedicated to providing the very best online music education, front-line recordings and high-end music production. About Jeff Berlin
Jack Bruce, bassist for the iconic band Cream, once described Jeff Berlin as the “The best bass player I’ve ever heard.”
For over 40 years, he has stood as one of the most innovative electric bassists of the 20th and 21st centuries. Known for his one-of-a-kind tone, jaw dropping technique and highly advanced harmonic approaches to the bass, Jeff has been one of the major figures in firmly establishing the electric bass as a solo instrument well deserving of its own distinct place in modern music.
Jeff has also distinguished himself as one the premier teachers of bass education throughout the world. For 10 years he owned and operated the Players School in Clearwater, Florida. Now in Nashville since 2017, Jeff continues his mission through Jeff Berlin Bass Education. In direct contrast to what has recently become the popular but more superficial approach to bass education, Jeff uses the proven method of pedagogical musical training; this classic teaching method emphasizes the fundamentals, such as reading music, understanding chord tones and their applications, playing in 12 keys, approach notes, and walking blues.
Jeff’s recording and performance credits include a who’s who of jazz and rock. They include: Bill Bruford, Allan Holdsworth, Larry Coryell, Pat Martino, John McLaughlin, Yes, Frank Zappa, Patrick Moraz and many more.
John McCracken
Platinum and gold music producer John McCracken is a longtime luminary in the industry.
John’s talents cross over many categories beyond production, as well, from engineering and consulting to teaching and performing as a guitarist. As former Director of A&R and staff producer for EMI Music Group, one of the largest record companies in the world (owner of legendary Blue Note and Manhattan Records), John worked closely with iconic performers including Diana Ross, Nora Jones and Roseanne Cash.
He has produced over 100 recordings for major and independent labels as well as TV and film. His stellar credits include nearly every musical genre, from jazz, rock and progressive rock to opera, orchestral and choral recordings. He received a platinum and gold record as producer for Broadway legend Michael Crawford’s (Phantom of the Opera) On Eagle’s Wings on Atlantic Records.
Recent productions include Jeff Berlin’s Joe Frazier 30th Anniversary EP featuring guitar legend Steve Vai and highly acclaimed drummer Keith Carlock (Steely Dan). John was Executive Producer of the 2022 release Eyes Wide Open by world famous keyboardist/guitarist David Sancious (Springsteen, Sting, Clapton and Peter Gabriel). His current production work is as producer and engineer of Jeff Berlin’s September 2022 release entitled Jack Songs: An All-Star Tribute to Jack Bruce. This recording features A-List musicians including Sammy Hagar, Alex Lifeson, Geddy Lee, Eric Johnson, Gregg Bissonette, Bill Frisell, Gary Husband, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, Bill Sheehan and many more.
